# Teams

A team is a named group in the organization, placed in a hierarchy of parent and child teams.

A team has a name, a type, a lifespan, and an optional parent team. Its status comes from its start and end dates, and no endpoint sets it directly. A new team's name must be unique.

A team's members are separate records. There is no endpoint to add or remove a team's members.
