# Advance Payment Categories

An advance payment category sets the accounts that employee advances use: the bank account an advance is paid from, and the offset account that records the advance until an expense report settles it.

Each legal entity has at most one advance payment category, and employee advance requests refer to it.

The category's bank and offset accounts are set for each chart of accounts, and no endpoint reads or sets them.
