Update Inventory Decrease
PATCH /inventory/inventory-decreases/{id}
Group: Inventory › Inventory Decreases · Operation ID: updateInventoryDecrease
Updates the inventory decrease with the given identifier. Only a draft can be changed, and only the fields in the request body change.
This updates a draft, and only a draft. Omitted fields are left alone. Lines change through three arrays, deleteLines, updateLines and createLines, applied in that order, so one call can remove a line and add its replacement. On an updateLines entry, a tracking array replaces what that line had, and an omitted one leaves it untouched. The location cannot be changed, since it belongs to the whole document and every line. A line id belonging to another document is rejected, not skipped. The response is the updated document in full.

Parameters
| Name | In | Type | Required | Description |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Api-Version |
header | "v1" |
yes | The API version this request targets, named by its public identifier. Required on every request; omitting it, or naming a version this company does not have, is answered with 400. This document describes version v1. |
Idempotency-Key |
header | string | no | An opaque caller-chosen string (1-255 characters) that makes this request safe to retry. Repeating the same key with an identical request body replays the original response instead of re-executing - but only once that original request succeeded; a failed attempt re-executes on retry. Repeating the key with a different body is answered with 422. A key still in flight is answered with 409 - as is a key whose original request was interrupted before it finished, for a few minutes afterwards, until that attempt is presumed dead. A completed response stays replayable for 24 hours. The key is scoped to the caller, not to the action: reusing it for a different action is answered with 409 or 422 rather than treated independently. On read actions this header is ignored. On write actions that cannot offer the guarantee it is answered with 400 IDEMPOTENCY_NOT_SUPPORTED rather than silently ignored. |
id |
path | string | yes | The unique identifier for the inventory decrease to update. |
Request body

updateLines[].batches |
array of object | no | The batches to take the quantity from. Required for a batch-tracked item, and the quantities must add up to the line's quantity. Every batch named must already exist for the item, since a decrease removes lots and does not create them. On update, this replaces the line's batches. |

string | no | The unique identifier for the batch being removed. Give this or batchNumber. |
updateLines[].batches[].batchNumber |
string | no | The batch number as printed, for example 'LOT-2026-08-14'. It is matched against the batches of this line's item, since the same number on another item is a different lot. Give this or batchNumberId. |

string (decimal) | yes | The quantity of this batch to remove, in the line's unit. The batch quantities of a line must add up to the line's quantity. |
updateLines[].serials |

updateLines[].binLocations[].serialNumber |
string | no | Names one of this line's serialized units, when the bin entry belongs to it. |
createLines |
array of object | no | The lines to add. They use the document's existing location, so a document with no lines yet cannot take new ones. |

string (decimal) | no | The value of one unit, in the inventory decrease's currency. Optional: omit it to value the stock at the cost it already has, which is what a write-off ordinarily wants. A supplied value must be greater than zero. |
createLines[].notes |
string | no | Free text on the line. |
createLines[].batches |
array of object | no | The batches to take the quantity from. Required for a batch-tracked item, and the quantities must add up to the line's quantity. Every batch named must already exist for the item, since a decrease removes lots and does not create them. |
createLines[].batches[].batchNumberId |
string | no | The unique identifier for the batch being removed. Give this or batchNumber. |
createLines[].batches[].batchNumber |
string | no | The batch number as printed, for example 'LOT-2026-08-14'. It is matched against the batches of this line's item, since the same number on another item is a different lot. Give this or batchNumberId. |
